On March 25th and 26th, Scott and Norm traveled to Harrisburg to attend the Pennsylvania Forest Products Association’s 2025 Legislative event. During their visit, they engaged with numerous House and Senate members to advocate for the Hardwood Industry. Pennsylvania leads the nation in hardwood growing stock, production, and wood product exports. The industry’s impact is impressive, creating over 63,000 jobs across 2,100 companies and contributing $39 billion annually to the economy.

Managed working forests play a crucial role in sustainability. They provide a renewable supply of wood, while also ensuring clean air and water, offering recreational opportunities, supporting wildlife habitats, and increasing carbon storage. Young forests, in particular, excel at capturing carbon from the atmosphere, a process that becomes less efficient as forests age. Therefore, maintaining well-managed working forests benefits both the environment and the economy.

Here at Cummings Lumber Company, we’re celebrating a milestone! Willie Bruhl, our legendary log truck driver, has just marked his 15th year of dedicated service. That’s 15 years of hauling timber through some of the toughest conditions imaginable.

If you’ve ever wondered what it takes to be a log truck driver, Willie embodies it. He’s faced it all: treacherous snow-covered roads, mud, and the steep, winding mountain roads that would make anyone else think twice. But Willie? He tackles it head-on, always getting the logs out and the job done. His unwavering dedication and sheer determination are truly inspiring.

Willie is more than just a driver; he’s a vital part of the Cummings Lumber family. His hard work and positive spirit shine through in everything he does. We’re incredibly grateful for his commitment and the countless loads he’s delivered over the years.
